Barkan & Mess Associates, Inc. was acquired by Milone & MacBroom, Inc.
in the summer of 2007. Together our two firms provide clients a 50-year history
of full service consulting from our seven offices in Cheshire, Branford and
Stamford, Connecticut; Greenville, South Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina;
Newcastle, Maine; and South Burlington, Vermont.
COMPANY PROFILE
Barkan & Mess Associates, Inc. was formed in 1976 and provides traffic
engineering and transportation planning for clients in both the public and
private sectors. Our clients include municipal, regional, state, and
federal agencies where we provide transportation planning and transit,
bicycle, pedestrian, and traffic calming studies. The firm also performs
various transportation analyses relating to air quality and noise as part
of the overall environmental impact assessment study.
Services to the public sector include assistance in site selection,
traffic access planning, circulation design, and parking layout.
Our staff designs traffic signals and intersections, and prepares signing
and pavement marking plans. Projects include shopping centers, corporate
offices, research and industrial parks, residential communities, educational
institutions, planned town centers, and multi-use activity centers.
In both our public and private sector work, the firm’s assignments deal
with new facilities and with improvements to existing transportation
infrastructure. Through renovation, expansion, and redevelopment activities,
these assignments reflect an appreciation of project economics and a sensitivity
to better utilization of the existing transportation system.
